By goyo, on February 28th, 2008% Well, I hope you all have enjoyed my travels to Cebu and Dumaguete. I just loved making the trip and taking all the fotos so I hope they have done some good. It is my hope that those of you who had never heard of Cebu now have, that those of you who only knew a little about Cebu now know more and that those of you who have never visited Cebu will now make plans to do so. The island of Cebu has many cities and towns, some large, some small, and they are all worth visiting and exploring. From the cool mountain tops to the warm beaches, from the rural farm areas to the vibrant life of a cosmopolitan city you will find something you enjoy. So if you have never come to Cebu, please come. If you have been to Cebu before then please balik balik (come back). And if you’re already living in Cebu then I’m very jealous!
First of all, a big thank you to all of you who followed my little blog. To name all of you would be unfair to any new ones who come along in the future but rest assured I am very appreciative of your visits and comments. I thank Leylander for his MyCebuPhotoBlog which was the inspiration for TravelsWith Goyo.
Sorry to say but my postings are winding down now. There will be more but they will be sporadic and without regularity. When the mood strikes I will post. I am planning one now but just haven’t had time to get it all together. Perhaps I shall post some pictures of my travels here stateside. I don’t know. My heart is in Cebu now. Amerikano akong lawas pero Cebuano akong kasing-kasing (My body is American but my heart is Cebuano). So, I’ll remember through the fotos. I’ll remember the food, so lami (delicious). I’ll remember the San Miguel Beer with Toto and the Coke Light with Papa. I’ll remember our family who I am blessed to have. I’ll remember the people, their warmth and their smiles. I’ll remember each and every one of you who have traveled with me through this blog. I’ll remember RainGirl. Good night. Keep the faith.
Your Higala (friend),
Goyo

Pilipino music artists are so great I just can’t stop. My first exposure to them was many years ago (more than I want to admit to). While serving in the US Navy for a couple of years, my ship stopped at Subic Bay. The bands in the bars were just the greatest. I still can’t hear the song “Mustang Sally” without thinking of Subic. If you travel in Asia you will find Pilipino singers and musicians in almost every country as they are loved by all for their musical accomplishments. So, here are a few more of the up and coming singers in the Philippines. Oh yeah, and one tribute to a grand lady.
Let’s get it started with Aicelle Santos and “Ikaw Pa Rin”.

By goyo, on February 20th, 2008% Okay, it’s time for music and a little fun. Kanta means “sing”.
For those who don’t know, a Pinay has made it to the top 24 of American Idol. Congratulations to Ramiele Malubay! Please watch and if you like her, vote for her.
Now here are a few more videos I would like to share. First is one of my favorites. Orange and Lemons singing “Pinoy Ako” . Pinoy ako means “I am Pinoy”.

By goyo, on February 14th, 2008% Now that I am back stateside I have only my memories and my fotos to remind me of Cebu. Cebu is a wonderful beautiful place in the sun. A tropical island with lush vegetation in the towering mountains and beautiful, pristine white sand beaches. Cebu City is a wonderful and beautiful city. World class. From the shopping malls to the fine dining restaurants. From the sari sari stores to the local karenderia. Everything is there. There is one certain memory that I cling to and that is the people. More than anything else in Cebu the most beautiful part is the people. The warmth, the hospitality, the heart of the Cebuano. The funloving people of Cebu are it’s rock. It’s foundation. Some of them may be as poor as anyone can be but they will still have a smile for you. They are always smiling and laughing. Please, if you have never been, I encourage you to visit at least once in your life. It is my heartfelt belief that you will be as taken with Cebu and her people as I am. So I share with you now some of the people. And their smiles tell it all.

Halika! Biyahe Tayo! This blog started with one of my trips to the Philippines, specifically the islands of Cebu and Negros. I want to share with you the splendors and wonders of Republika ng Pilipinas (RP) as well as the love for and from her many peoples. I hope you will enjoy my adventures and misadventures as well as the fotos that I upload here. Perhaps you will also be motivated to visit and enjoy the 7,107 islands that are the RP.
By the way, that foto at the top of the page is of a beach in Santa Fe, Bantayan on the island of Cebu. Beautiful, is it not?
The other foto above is me, Goyo.
